A spaceframe lamp

The first spaceframe lamp that I made was constructed from solid copper wire, 3mm through hole leds and custom 3d printed connector pieces and electronic housing.

I’ve put particular effort in ensuring that the connector pieces of the lamp where designed correctly. It was imperative that they accept the 3mm leds and copper wire, and make a reliable connection. This was my first serious design project, where I conceptualized the full design, while making a pleasing looking final-product.

While making the lamp, I found it difficult to keep the copper wire straight enough when weaving it through the connector pieces. Therefore, the spaceframe has a bit of a handmade look. After hanging it from the ceiling, I was pleased with the amount of light emitted by the lamp, but I did find the light a little too blue for room lighting. These issues were resolved in the making of my second spaceframe lamp
